Position Overview
Salary Range: $30,000 – $38,000 per year (based on experience and qualifications).
This is an entry-level position ideal for early-career technical writers or eLearning professionals seeking to grow their skills and experience.
The primary role of a Technical Writer / eLearning Developer Level I at OverNite Software Inc. (OSI) is to design, write, and develop engaging computer-based training (eLearning) using sound instructional design principles and adult learning methodologies.
As a member of our Multimedia Services (MMS) team, you will collaborate with instructional designers, multimedia designers, technical writers, subject matter experts, and clients to create interactive, visually driven training experiences. This role is ideal for a strong writer who understands how people learn and can translate complex technical or safety-related content into clear, effective training.
You will write scripts and on-screen text, help create course storyboards, and build interactive eLearning courses using modern authoring tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Write clear, learner-focused instructional content for eLearning courses
- Apply adult learning theory and instructional design best practices
- Develop interactive courses using modern authoring tools
- Collaborate with designers, SMEs, and project managers throughout course development
- Translate technical or regulatory content into engaging training experiences
Required Skills & Abilities
- Strong written communication and editing and proofreading skills
- Ability to organize and structure information logically
- Ability to visualize learner interactions, UI, and the final course experience
- Comfortable working in collaborative, deadline-driven environments
Software & Tools (Modern Skill Set)
Experience with the following tools is required:
- Articulate Storyline 360
- Articulate Review and SCORM publishing workflows
- Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Basic audio editing tools (e.g., Audacity, Ocenaudio, Adobe Audition)
- Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS)
- Working knowledge of project collaboration tools (e.g., ClickUp, SharePoint, or similar)
- AI-assisted content or media tools (used responsibly and professionally)
- Basic HTML/CSS familiarity
- AI-assisted content or media tools (used responsibly and professionally)
Education & Experience
- Degree, technical training certificate, or equivalent experience in instructional design, technical writing, education, communications, or a related field
- Prior experience developing eLearning or training content preferred
- Experience in industrial, construction, safety, petrochemical, or process industries is a plus
